Assembly:

  1. Lead the connection cable with the yellow plug and yellow cable to the back of the navigation screen. It makes sense to go through the glove compartment, but it is up to you where you lay the cable.
  2. The wiring on the back of the navigation screen is very simple: Connect the plug to "Video In" and the yellow cable to the other yellow cable with "B+12V".

  1. Functional test: (start the car and put it into reverse) first select "Aftermarket Camera" in the menu under Back settings.
  2. Run the cable through the interior to the tailgate. With the E9x, it is recommended to go from the glove compartment through the lower panel under the carpet on the passenger side. With the coupé, go to the back seat and remove it (just pull on it). Be careful to route the cable behind the belts. Then you are in the trunk and can get to the cable routing to the tailgate by removing the right panel.
  3. Every car has a cable guide from the vehicle to the tailgate, also called a "bellows". The two plugs cannot get through this. Option:
  4. Option 1: Cut the cable, lead it through the bellows and then put it back together (soldering, Wago terminals, etc.) Attention: One cable runs freely and must be separately insulated.
  5. Option 2: Do not lay the cable through the cable guide, but rather next to it and secure it with cable ties if necessary. Here, care must be taken to ensure that the openings are still properly closed with the bellows to prevent water from entering.
  6. Remove the tailgate trim
  7. Remove the original button, connect the rear view camera and the cable from the button and then install it in the same way as the button. It is important that all holders click into place correctly and that the silicone protection is correctly positioned.
