BMW IDRIVE CIC vs. NBT vs. Evo

Which operating system do I have (CIC, NBT or EVO)?

Here is the answer:

Important: The only thing that matters here is 1. the connector, i.e. whether 4 PIN or 6 PIN, this is how you can tell CIC and NBT apart 100%!

Z.b. The BMW F10 and F11 have models with a CIC interface, but with an NBT computer, i.e. 6PIN, so it is necessary to check the connector on these models.

The BMW 1 Series F20 F21 and 2 Series F22 F23 do not have CIC computers! If they do, they are only NBT computers with a CIC interface.

If you order "CIC" for this model, you will get an NBT Carplay for NBT:

For all other models the plug should be checked!

Ordered incorrectly?

No problem, we'll be happy to replace your system with the right one.

Causes of incorrect Carplay:

  • Carplay system does not switch to the old system
  • Carplay flickers purple/green
  • Plug does not fit

Difference between NBT and EVO:

The NBT and EVO Idrive systems have the same 6PIN connector but still need to be differentiated in order to find the right Carplay.

The start screen is crucial here.

  • NBT (list)
  • EVO (tiles)

With the BMW 3 Series F30 F31 and 4 Series F32 F33 F36, a distinction must regularly be made between NBT and EVO:
